About Us

At Miss Pickle we are passionately Mediterranean in origins and flavours and proudly Australian, sourcing only the best local and ethical produce whenever possible. Like the real Miss Pickle – who emigrated to Melbourne in 1971 – nothing gives us more pleasure than sharing our real food. Just as she was, we are stubborn about how our food is made, choosing to prepare everything fresh and using the time honoured cooking traditions found across the Mediterranean. The colours, aromas and textures of every bite will transport you onto the streets and into the kitchens of Athens, Beirut, Tel Aviv and Cyprus.

Our Story

The Journey

Miss Pickle migrates to Australia to make a fresh start with her young family. She has no money, cannot speak the language, but she’s not afraid of hard work and boy can she cook!

The Grind

Multiple jobs, learning the English language, keeping food on the table. This wasn’t an easy time, from working in factories to driving trams, no stone was left unturned in pursuit of the Australian dream - To make a better life and give back to her new home.

Cooking her way to the top

Like most immigrants of the day, it was inevitable that once enough money had been saved, it would be invested in a Mixed business. It was out of a humble Milk Bar / Sandwich bar that Miss Pickle found her calling. She could not understand why people went so crazy for her sandwiches. There was no great secret, Just the freshest of breads and fillings, generous portions and all put together with love. “I will never sell anything to a customer that I wouldn’t feed to my Kids”. Many successful business where built on this philosophy over the next 30+ years. Sandwich bars, takeaways & restaurants, all thrived off the love, passion & traditional methods used to prepare and serve the food.

Miss Pickle Mediterranean Grill is opened in Knox Ozone

In a time where people keep trying to reinvent the wheel and overcomplicate simple recipes, Miss Pickles’ no nonsense, fresh, traditional Mediterranean menu was very appreciated but people who just wanted REAL FOOD. Like all new ventures in life, there were setbacks, but they were overcome with the same grit and determination that paved the way for a new beginning so long ago and in under two years Miss Pickle had become one of the South Easts favourite eateries.
